MUMBAI: Vishal Bhardwaj is an acclaimed film director, screenwriter, producer, music composer and playback singer. A recipient of seven National Film Awards, he is known for his remarkable contribution in the field of Hindi cinema.   

He earned critical acclaim for writing and directing tragedies like Maqbool, Omkara, and Haider. He is also known for the caper thriller Kaminey, the black comedy 7 Khoon Maaf, and the satire Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola.  

But did you know this powerhouse of talent also has an amazing sense of humour?  

Well, in an interview with TellyChakkar, actor Sumit Kaul narrated an interesting incident. He said that they were on their way to shoot for Haider along with Vishal Bhardawaj. They came across a family. The family started talking among themselves and then garnered the courage to come up to them. They claimed to have recognised Vishal Bhardawaj but ended up asking if he was an actor. To this, the filmmaker nodded in the affirmative and said that his name is Sumit Kaul. He also gave an autograph of his name.

After watching the entire scene, Sumit was wondering about their reaction when they will find out the truth. He found the entire matter funny and held his laughter. However, he praised the filmmaker for his sense of humour.  

The actor said, “But this shows his sense of humour and humility and the great person that he is. I was amazed.”
