MUMBAI: Problems are natural. However, due to lack of awareness, social stereotypes, accepted insensitivity and many other factors, it seems as if one gender is going through a lot more than the other. In this eye-opening documentary produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, we get to witness the infinite strength of women as they tell us their nightmare-ish realities that is bring you goosebumps and leave you with a lot of questions.

This Purple Pebble Pictures produced documentary features some audacious women who narrate their stories of suffering, survival and strength. Most important, it features a women’s right activist, Srishti Bakshi who literally went to extreme lengths, documented some of the most unimaginable stories of acid attacks, domestic violence, molestation and all that one usually reads about in the papers and ignores. Well, Priyanka Chopra has brought some stories that cannot be ignored at any cost.

The best part about the documentary is not just the aspect of raw reality but the way it is all presented to us. Something that makes this documentary amazing is Srishti Bakshi, her journey, her drive for awareness and the lessons she teaches not just to those women but also to us. We don’t just get to watch the gender violence but also get to see will power at its max as Srishti shows unimaginable strength to walk miles for her mission.

The documentary starts with a case of domestic violence where we get to see a woman bleeding in her saree but as Srishti reaches to her, the woman’s husband immediately starts blaming her anger issues. This surely shakes our soul but it’s just the beginning.

A thing to note here is that there is no man-bashing, no way does it show that women are better than men, rather it shows how the society has been partial, how it’s wrong to have a sense of entitlement as a man while looking down at women…truly showing that men and women are EQUAL with focus on natural differences of course.

All in all, the series sheds light on the suffering of women due to various social factors, the mind-conditioning that needs to be corrected in both male and female upbringing, the harsh reality of male dominance that needs to change and a lesson before raise a child as to what type of world are you going to introduce them to. IT’S A MUST WATCH… for EVERYONE.
