These movies give the makers a chance to put forth a splendid set and gorgeous dresses, which are easily lapped up by the audiences. From Deepika Padukone's stunning lehengas to Aishwarya Rai's classy saris, we have absolutely enjoyed the royal looks of the leading ladies. Isn't it?

Guaranteed Box Office Hit:

Let's admit it, we love watching this genre on the big screen. Because it's larger than life and quite entertaining, unlike your everyday masala fare. Perhaps that's why these movies are guaranteed box office hits, and rightly so.

A Slice of History:

We might have hated the subject back in school, but now, a slice of history seems exciting, amazing and intriguing, despite the fiction-esque treatment of the plot. We don't know if Romeo and Juliet actually died for each other, but the romantic in us wants to believe that.

Good Looking Leads:

Almost all of these period dramas have a stunning lead pair, enthralling in their regal clothes and antique jewellery. One of the reasons audiences dig such movies is because of this. And when we love it so much, why won't filmmakers line-up to make such movies?
