MUMBAI: It is said that any job becomes easy if you are passionate about it. Well, it is rightly said that the grass is always greener on the other side. Actors often hear people saying that being an actor is as simple as snapping two fingers, but trust us, reality is completely different.

B-town and TV celebrities have worked real hard to reach where they are today. Constant checks on diet plans, fitness regimes, hard work for each role, several retakes to give that perfect shot: these are just a few aspects of their daily routine.

One such stunner who has enjoyed a mixed platter of appreciation during her career is TV and film actress Amruta Khanvilkar.

Amruta has showcased her talent in both Hindi and Marathi cinema. The audience has applauded her work in movies like Katyra Kaljat Ghusli and Natrang. She recently aced the role of Munira in Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi.

In an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar, Amruta threw some light on her upcoming web series Damaged and Bollywood movie Satyameva Jayate.

Everybody has a dark side

Talking about her role in Damaged, where she plays the role of a psychotic serial killer, the actress shares the struggles she went through to ace the role.

‘It was challenging as it was my first time playing such a character. But I knew that I have to master the role. Plus I feel everybody has a dark side.’

‘It was very difficult to get into the character, as it’s not a daily affair for one to wake up and go around killing people. It’s unrealistic to convince yourself to act psychotic, and acting like one was mentally and physically draining.’

I would love to play such a character again but would never want to come across someone like Lavina

Amruta said that her nature is contrary to the role she played in the web series.

‘I am a positive and bubbly person, and even though it took me a week to recover from the after effects of the role, I would love to play such a role again if offered. For me, acting is a high, and to perform different characters that test you time and now is another high.’

She mentions that she would never want to come across someone with a mindset like Lavina’s (her character in Damaged). She compares her character to those in popular movies like Shadowing Stone, SRK’s Darr, Priyanka Chopra’s 7 Khoon Maaf, and Ek Hasina Thi.

I CANNOT do daily soaps

Amruta’s Bollywood film Satyameva Jayate is all set to go on floors.

‘I didn’t need to work much on my character for the film, as I had to portray ME. Sarita (character name) is just like me: lively, positive, and bubbly.’

However, the actress shatters our hopes of seeing her in daily soaps.

‘I don’t want to be a part of daily soaps. Actors are doing great in their acting careers in the TV industry, but daily soaps are something not meant for me. I can’t play the same role for so long, as I get bored of a character easily.’

What do you think of Amruta Khanvilkar?

I want to be a part of Khatron Ke Khiladi but a big NO to Bigg Boss

‘I have that daredevil spirit in me that wants to explore new and out-of-the-box things. Khatron Ke Khiladi is the only way I would get to explore my adventurous side.’

‘I would love to try skydiving, but whenever I ask Himmanshoo to accompany me, he backs out and doesn’t let me also do it.’

Husband Himmanshoo A. Malhotra also doesn’t want her to be a part of Bigg Boss.

‘My mother and I watch Bigg Boss without Himmanshoo’s knowledge, as he doesn’t like the show one bit.’

‘It’s exciting that there are rumours about us

‘It’s been 13 years that Himmanshoo and I have been together. We have grown up with each other. When I hear rumours about us parting ways or staying in separate houses, it amuses me.’

‘I don’t like exhibiting my life on social media, and the same goes for Himmanshoo. If that gives people the reason to think that we are unhappy together or separated, then that’s their call. Yes, while in Nach Baliye, we needed to be active on social media, and we did that.’

Amruta said that when the news about the couple’s separation came on a media portal, she and Himmanshoo were sitting together sipping coffee and they had a good laugh about it.

I want to have 3 kids

Taking about embracing motherhood Amruta shares, ‘Well, among the two of us, I am the one who wants a kid. Himmanshoo always tells me to first achieve the heights I want to and then plan such an important step in our life. He supports me in all aspects of my life, personal and professional.’

The actress says that whenever she plan to embrace motherhood, she would like to have at least three kids.

Amruta happily concluded the interview by saying that Himmanshoo is an extremely caring person who loves her unconditionally.

‘I am happy to have him in my life!’
