Chris Evans to act in Apple series

Actor Chris Evans has been roped in for the lead role in Apple series titled Defending Jacob.

Being helmed by The Imitation Game director Morten Tyldum, the thriller series is based on the 2012 best-selling novel of the same name by William Landay, reports suggest so.

The series will also mark the Avengers: Infinity War actor's first regular television role since he appeared in the miniseries Opposite Sexback in 2000, which was his only regular TV role to date.

Defending Jacob was created, written, and executive produced by Mark Bomback, who will also serve as showrunner.

Apart from acting, Evans will also executive produce Defending Jacob alongside Tyldum.

Popular for playing superhero Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Evans recently starred in critically acclaimed movieLobby Hero.

Katie Price spotted 'splurging 600 pounds on perfume'

TV personality Katie Price reportedly splurged 600 pounds on perfume despite bankruptcy woes.

She was shopping in The Perfume Shop in Horsham when she dropped the huge sum, reports suggest so.

An onlooker said, "Everyone was staring as she walked in. Me and my friends were shocked as we read about her money problems and how she's skint.

"Yet she didn't care and spent all that money on perfume. It was loads of high-end stuff, and she just handed her card over. She didn't care."

Her expensive shopping trip comes as she just narrowly avoided facing bankruptcy despite once being worth 45 million pounds.

The High Court gave her three months to come up with a plan to pay off her debts after blowing her fortune on plastic surgery, luxury holidays and a farm worth a million pounds. Her application will be heard on 30 October.

Michael B Jordan to essay John Clark in next film

Actor Michael B Jordan will play the role of Tom Clancy's famous character John Clark in a new yet-untitled film series.

According to variety.com, Paramount is developing two films based on the Clancy books "Rainbow Six" and "Without Remorse" -- both novels in which Clark is the main star.

Jordan will co-produce the film with Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.

Also, Paramount has hired writer-producer Akiva Goldsman to head the project and is in talks with writers for the "Without Remorse" adaptation.

The famous character of Clark aka John Terrence Kelly is an ex-Navy Seal-turned-operations officer for the CIA and would go on to appear in 17 novels starting with 1988's "The Cardinal of the Kremlin."

On the big screen, renowned actors like Willem Dafoe, Liev Schreiber and Jack Ryan have essayed Clark's role.

Apart from this, Jordan will next be seen in Steven Caple Jr. directorial Creed.

Statement on retirement was a mistake: Robert Redford

Veteran actor and director Robert Redford, who had earlier revealed that he might take retirement after The Old Man and the Gun, now thinks his statement was a "mistake".

In an interview to variety.com, the 82-year-old actor has said that he never should have stated that his last film would be the upcoming crime-comedy.

Redford said, "That was a mistake. I should never have said that. If I'm going to retire, I should just slip quietly away from acting, but I shouldn't be talking about it because I think it draws too much attention in the wrong way. I want to be focused on this film and the cast."

Asked to clarify if this is not his final film, Redford responded by saying, "I'm not answering that."

"Keep the mystery alive," he added.

Redford made his Hollywood debut in 1959 in Tall Story and hit the small screen with various roles in 1960.

Over his 60 years long career in Hollywood, Redford has earned two Oscars, six Golden Globes, and one BAFTA, among several other accolades.

Snoop Dogg bashes Trump supporters

Rapper Snoop Dogg, who often raises his voice against US President Donald Trump and his political ideologies, has slammed his supporters including fellow rapper Kanye West.

During his appearance on DJ Suss One's show, Snoop said of Trump supporters, "F**k you and f**k him", reports suggest so.

He then targeted Kanye, who has publicly praised Trump, by adding, "Kanye, too. Don't forget about him too. F**k you too! Throw him in the bag too because he's right there with the mother f**kers."

Kanye had called Trump "my brother".

Earlier Trump had suggested that Snoop should be sent to jail. So, the performer retaliated last year by taking aim at Trump in a track titled "Make America crip again", an allusion to the President's trademark slogan.

Guitarist Dickey Betts critical

Musician Dickey Betts, who has been in hospital following a fall at his home a few days ago, is in "critical" condition.

The 74-year-old guitar player, one of the iconic band's founding members, will undergo a brain surgery on Friday, reports suggest so.

On Betts' website, a statement on his behalf reads that he was injured on Monday "while playing with the family dog", as he "slipped and cracked his head", causing bleeding from the brain.

Confirming the news, the guitarist's manager David Spero mentioned that Betts is in critical but stable condition.

He said, "It was just a few days ago that Dickey was telling me how excited he was to get back in front of the fans on 1 November. It is very unfortunate, for all involved, that we need to cancel those shows. Please add Dickey into your thoughts and prayers."

Betts' wife Donna said in a statement, "The family appreciates all of your thoughts and prayers during this very trying time. Dickey is a notorious fighter and he is displaying that now!"

In August, Betts had cancelled tour dates after suffering a minor stroke at his Sarasota home.

Betts and Jai Johanny Johanson are the two living members of The Allman Brothers Band, as Gregg Allman died in May 2017 after a battle with liver cancer, while drummer Butch Trucks died in January in that year.

The band has a tragic history littered with premature deaths, as Duane Allman was only 24 when he died in a motorcycle crash in October 1971 in Georgia, while bass player Berry Oakley was also 24 when he died after a motorcycle crash close to the location of Allman's crash in November 1972.

Marvel series on female superheroes on TV soon

Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg is aiming to bring more female superheroes to the small screen.

ABC has given a production commitment to a series that will feature female Marvel superheroes, reports suggest so.

The exact details of the project are being kept under wraps, so there is no word yet on exactly which characters from the Marvel universe will be featured.

Heinberg will executive produce along with Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb, with Marvel TV and ABC Studios producing. Heinberg is working on the series under his overall deal with ABC Studios.

Should the project move forward, it would be the latest Marvel project to air on the broadcaster.

ABC launched Agents of SHIELD back in 2013, with the network renewing the show for a sixth season back in May. The sixth season will consist of 13 episodes. ABC also previously aired the Marvel shows Agent Carte and Inhumans, which have both been cancelled.

There has been much speculation about whether or not any other Marvel shows would land at ABC, given the fact that Disney is preparing to launch its own streaming service next year.

Marvel is in early development on multiple limited series that would focus on characters featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Loki and Scarlet Witch.

Marvel also currently has five shows on Netflix: The Punisher, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The latter three shows debuted second seasons this year, while Daredevil is expected to launch its third yet this year.

Cary Fukunaga to direct new James Bond film

Primetime Emmy award-winning American filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga, best known for directing and executive producing the first season of the series True Detective, will direct the new James Bond film.

The announcement was made on Twitter on Thursday.

"Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that #Bond25 will begin filming at Pinewood Studios on March 4, 2019 under the helm of director, Cary Joji Fukunaga with a worldwide release date of February 14, 2020," read a post on the official James Bond Twitter account.

"We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure," said Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Earlier, director Danny Boyle quit the James Bond franchise after he reportedly "refused to kill off Craig's 007 in spectacular finale to 25th film".

It was announced in August that Boyle had quit over "creative differences".
