Samuel L. Jackson joins 'The Banker'

Actor Samuel L. Jackson has bagged the lead role in George Nolfi directorial The Banker.

Written by Niceole Levy and Nolfi, the film also features Anthony Mackie, Nicholas Hoult and Nia Long, reports deadline.com.

The Banker is based on the true story of two African-American entrepreneurs, Bernard Garrett (Mackie) and Joe Morris (Jackson), who during the 1950s tried to circumvent the racial limitations of the era and take on the establishment by recruiting a working class white man, Matt Steiner (Hoult) and training him to pose as the head of their business empire while they posed as a janitor and a chauffeur.

The film is being shot in Atlanta.

Known for starring in over a hundred films, Thor actor Jackson has also provided his voice to several animated films, television series and video games.

Lauren Goodger is 'sick' of dating gangsters

English television personality Lauren Goodger does not want to date gangsters as she considers it as a complete "waste of time".

The 31-year-old has been single since splitting from jailbird Joey Morrison last summer and now feels sick of dating goons anymore, reports dailymail.co.uk.

In her column, the Only Way is Essex star said, "I need a complete opposite to the guys I've dated in the past. They all love me but they become obsessive and want to live this wannabe gangster life.

"I broke up with Joey months ago and he's out of jail now, and I just think 'what a waste of time it was'."

Morrison was jailed for 16 years for a string of violent drugs-related charges. He was 24 at the time and was convicted of possession of a firearm, kidnapping, blackmail and actual bodily harm.

Maroon 5's song maintains top position on Billboard Hot 100

Band Maroon 5 "Girls like you" has maintained its number one position on Billboard Hot 100 for the third consecutive week.

"Girls like you" has also hit a huge number on YouTube. It has received one billion views, read a statement.

Its star-studded video features Gal Gadot, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Sarah Silverman, Rita Ora and Mary J. Blige, among others.

Rapper Cardi B got a solo performance in the video.

"'Girls like you' featuring Cardi B is number 1 for a third week in a row," read a tweet posted by Maroon 5 handle.

Kylie Jenner gets lip fillers again

Reality TV star Kylie Jenner has got lip fillers again after having them removed.

The 21-year-old Kylie Cosmetics founder confirmed she was once again making her pout more plump on Tuesday when she thanked Pawnta Cosmetic Dermatology of Beverly Hills "for coming through late last night with a lip touch up!"

The shoutout, which was a photo of Jenner posted on her Instagram Stories, showed her posing in a white robe with significantly fuller lips, reports people.com.

Her cosmetic procedure comes just a few months after the Keeping up with the Kardashians star revealed she had decided to stop enhancing her lips.

"She looks like the old Kylie here, I don't know why," one fan wrote in the comments section of the star's Instagram in July.

To this, Jenner responded, "I got rid of all my filler."

She added two flushed face emojis and one smiley face emoji.

Jenner first admitted to using lip fillers in May 2015 after spending years overlining her mouth.

Then in September 2017, Jenner revealed she got fuller lips after a boy assumed she would be a bad kisser because of her naturally thin lips.

Dwayne Johnson to star in 'John Henry and the Statesmen'

Netflix has secured the rights to John Henry and The Statesmen, an original pitch from writer Tom Wheeler with Dwayne Johnson attached to star.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle director Jake Kasdan is on board to helm the show. Netflix landed the rights after a heated bidding war that attracted many of the major studios.

The film marks Johnson's first feature at Netflix, another win for the streaming giant. It is already in production on projects with Mark Wahlberg and Ryan Reynolds, reports variety.com.

"Netflix is the perfect partner and platform for us to continue entertaining our global audience in a disruptive way," Johnson said.

"These diverse characters speak to a legacy of storytelling that is more relevant than ever and span across a worldwide audience regardless of age, gender, race, or geography," he added.

Wheeler developed the pitch with Hiram Garcia, president of production at Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia's Seven Bucks Productions.

Johnson will also serve as a producer on the film.

'God Country' novel to turn into movie

Donny Cates penned fantasy-action graphic novel "God Country" is being made into a movie by Legendary Entertainment.

The banner announced the deal on Tuesday, saying that it is teaming up with AfterShock Media on the project, reported variety.com.

AfterShock Media CEO Jon Kramer and President Lee Kramer are producing the project.

"God Country" was originally published in 2017 by Image Comics. The story centres on an elderly widower rattled by dementia. When a tornado levels his home as well as the surrounding West Texas town, he's restored and rises from the wreckage as an enchanted sword at the eye of the storm enables him to face the otherworldly creatures the sword has drawn.

The details of the cast and crew have not been revealed yet.
