Taapsee inspired by Amitabh Bachchan

Actress Taapsee Pannu has taken inspiration from her Pink co-star Amitabh Bachchan to play a lawyer in the Mulk courtroom drama.

Amitabh became Taapsee's reference point for her role, which sees her seeking justice for a client she believes is being framed owing to his religion.

"Bachchan Sir's character in Pink was the best point of reference for me. Since I have worked with him in the film, I watched him closely and learned how he executed the role," Taapsee said in a statement.

"While we are diverse as actors, and the situation my character is in, is different, there were specifics that I picked up from watching him personally. His sternness and conviction is something that I took observed closely. He could build the personification that the character needed. His dedication to his craft, his discipline and his focus is commendable," she added.

Presented by Kamal Mukut and Soham Rockstar Entertainment, a Benaras Media Works production, the film is produced by Deepak Mukut and Anubhav Sinha, who has also directed.

The film also features Rishi Kapoor, Neena Gupta, Rajat Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra and Ashutosh Rana.

Rana Daggubati extends KWAN South to Chennai

After Hyderabad, actor Rana Daggubati has expanded the footprint of KWAN South -- which aims to herald a new era for the entertainment ecosystem of south India -- to Chennai.

A year ago KWAN Entertainment entered into an agreement with production powerhouse Suresh Productions -- heralded by Rana Daggubati -- and introduced a specialised division -- KWAN South.

Since them, some names on board include Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Regina Cassandra and Huma Qureshi. The company has taken a holistic approach in talent representations and focuses on building profiles rather than managing basic logistics and dates.

Chennai will now be home to KWAN South's second office.

Rana said in a statement, "We are acting as catalysts in the industry's transformation while giving long due credit to our massive industry on the national platform and serving best interests of audiences with ace content and products."

Set up at its headquarters as a studio style agency, the entity is a 20-member team working in divisions; Talent Management and Casting, Live Performances and Appearances, Content and Packaging, Production Support - TV and Commercials, Brand Associations - Endorsements, Digital and Film Partnerships.

According to Himank Duvvuru, Head - KWAN South, the south film industry has a lot of talent and an incredible craft, but streamlining operations is the need of the hour.

Farhan, Ali Fazal welcome audiences to 'Mirzapur'

Actor Ali Fazal and actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar on Tuesday unveiled the first look of the web series Mirzapur in style.

The upcoming Prime Original Series Mirzapur stars Ali and Shweta Tripathi. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan serve as the executive producers of the Amazon Prime Video's project created by Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh.

"Welcome to Mirzapur," Farhan tweeted on Tuesday.

Ali also took to Twitter to post its first look that features guns, bullets, knives and much more. "Okay here it comes. Welcome to the poetry of Mirzapur. A land with lungs. #MirzapurAnnouncement."

Ali had earlier said in a statement, "I am geared up and excited to start shooting with this talented team of Mirzapur."

Shweta had also expressed her excitement on working with Ali on the project.

"I adore Ali. I've known him for a few years now. We met at Prithvi (Theatre) and even did a play together. I was absolutely thrilled when I got to know that he is going to be a part of Mirzapur. I couldn't be happier with the casting of our series," said Shweta.

The gangster drama has a rural setting with north India as its background.

Actor Jim Sarbh doesn’t want to play villain anymore

Actor Jim Sarbh, who is known for portraying negative characters in films like Neerja, Padmaavat and Sanju, says he doesn't want to do negative roles anymore.

"I am not going to play a villain for a while. It's not because I don't like that kind of acting or don't want to do it, but because I want to try other things now," Jim said.

"One must say no to some opportunities to open the possibilities of others. Else, I will only remain a bad guy," he added.

Before his Bollywood debut in 2016, Jim was very active in the theatre world. From playing a lover to adapt into the role of servant, Jim had played varied roles during his theatre days.

"I've been doing plays ever since school. There's never really been a stop to it. Except for one year, when I went off wandering around and stayed at an ashram for five months. Even there I was cast as Jesus in a play. There was no escaping, so I came back to acting," he added.

His performance as a drug peddler in the film Sanju has been appreciated a lot.

Dino Morea, Nikhil Chinapa invest in photo-sharing app

Actor Dino Morea and video jockey Nikhil Chinapa have invested in Vebbler, a homegrown Bengaluru-based photo-sharing app.

Founded by 28-year old Sahil Bhagat and engineered by a young team mostly in their early 20s, the app provides a way for people to create shared albums with their friends and sync photos with one another instantly at parties, holidays, weddings and other occasions in real-time. Dino said he had an idea for a similar app a few years ago, but his busy schedule and the slow developing process kept him away.

"Instead of re-inventing the wheel, I thought of collaborating with Sahil and decided to invest in Vebbler," he said in a statement.

Nikhil believes the way people communicate with each other and share experiences these days, are primarily through sharing photos.

"Going forward, I see phenomenal growth in photo-sharing apps. Vebbler addresses this very clear gap in the market, which is the pain point for several people including me who go out for social gatherings. It is so difficult to gather all the images of the event from the entire group of friends that no one even tries."

Richa Chadha to become the face and voice of the Save the Elephants campaign!

Richa Chadha is one of the most strikingly amazing actresses in the industry. With critically acclaimed films and roles to her name, Richa has proved her mettle way ahead of her years. However, she is not only a talented actress, but also a wonderful human being.

She has always been vocal about her opinions on social issues and has never backed down from standing for important causes. The Fukrey actress was recently approached by PETA to become the face of the Save the Elephants Campaign. The international organization with the help of Richa Chadha have sent a letter to the Odisha Chief Minister to seek the office's support as it is a very important campaign. Over the past several years, elephants have been the victims of train accidents that have occurred on the tracks that pass through heavily forested and elephants crossing areas. These gentle animals are run over by oncoming trains that do not stop to take stock of the damage they’ve caused. The serious recklessness on behalf of the employees and government officials has caused the deaths of several elephants, adults and offsprings alike. Richa will take on the cause to not just get the government involved but also inform people about the accidents that are on the rise and how they can be curbed.

Richa said, “It is almost shocking how even in 2018 this still happens where an elephant gets hit by a train and either loses its life or by some off chance, it survives; help doesn’t manage to reach on time. So when PETA asked me to become the face and appeal to the CM, I was more than happy to write that letter. We need to teach our train drivers about elephant crossings. The forest guard should put more signs from the earlier stations to inform the train drivers about elephant crossing areas and heavily forested areas. Little things will change the fatalities; I hope these changes help the larger cause. Because they are the best and don't deserve something so tragic happening to them!”

Badshah gets love from Jeff Timmons

Composer and rapper Badshah has more than one reason to cheer! The song that gave him his much needed fame, ‘DJ Waley Babu’, turns three! Released by Sony Music, the song had become the most viewed and streamed track with love pouring in globally too.  This also gave him recognition in Bollywood and since then he has been belting out the biggest hits! The song also presented music fans with a new voice in Aastha Gill, who recently released her first pop single BUZZ feat.

Badshah also added a new fan to his list in none other than American Pop band 98 Degrees’ erstwhile band member Jeff Timmons. Said Jeff, “@its_badshah Big fan, I am in India and everyone loves you.”

Badshah’s new album O.N.E is yet to be out!

Pawanesh Pajnu, Head North, Sony Music India said, “Badshah is a global star today and we can never forget the importance and the success of ‘DJ Waley Babu’. When we released the song three years ago, we did not know what to expect, our objective was to get everyone to listen to it and as that happened, it blew up. An aggressive marketing strategy with a massive promotional push got the song to where it is today.”

He further added, “The music video that made Trucks look trendy, was launched on twitter by Karan Johar on this day three years ago."

Manish leaves everyone surprised

Apart from being the Sultan of the stage, Manish Paul is loved for his presence of mind and witty junior. Manish gave some stage breaking performances in the entire Da Banng Tour. He not only commenced the tour by performing and rapping the Da Banng Anthem, but totally stole the show in the last segment of the tour by joining Katrina Kaif on stage.

Manish was a total sport when he surprised everyone, including Katrina, by joining her on stage and putting up an impromptu performance at the Dabang Tour, which just got the celebrities resting their feet back in India, after a hectic schedule and an overwhelming response.

This multi-faceted personality exploded the stage by grooving to the steps of ‘Afgan Jalebi’ with Katrina Kaif during the Dabang Tour. Manish giving a surprise to Katrina on stage was the sweetest farewell gift for the actress.
