Samir Kochhar to play a reel life superstar in Island City

Samir Kochhar
Anchor, actor, live host, Samir Kochhar is adept at wearing multiple hats with great élan. Just back from the sinful Las Vegas where he was vacationing with his beautiful wife, Samir has already busied himself in the post production work of his next film, Island City. Helmed by Ruchika Oberoi, Island City is about Mumbai and will showcase three different stories of the city with Samir playing the lead in one of the stories. Talking about the film Samir says, "It's a coming of the age film where three different aspects of our maximum city are being showcased. It also has a bit of satire in it. It's a take-off on how people are in this city. Ruchika has beautifully blended three different journeys through this film." Interestingly, Samir plays the role of reel-life star in the film. Elaborating on his role, Samir says, "I play a star whose reel life antics influences the real life of those who watch him onscreen. So whatever he does on screen is crucial and critical to his audience. So it was fun to play such a star who exercises enormous influence on the real lives of other people." Samir is quick to add that the role is not inspired from the real life of any Indian superstar." It is not based or inspired on anybody's life though you will find certain similarities," reveals Samir. While Samir has all the trappings of being an A-lister in Bollywood, his career has been a tad less prolific. Quiz him on the same and Samir grows a bit philosophical. "May be my stars are not aligned yet. When I came to Mumbai, I knew nothing about the Mumbai media. And since I don't belong to any film family it took me some time to learn here. I did a few films which didn't work out well. Hopefully, things are going well now." Island City is produced by NFDC.
