I am emotionally connected to Razia Sultan: Mansoor Dar, Creative Head

Mansoor Dar, Creative Head

Actor-turned-creative head Mansoor Dar has come a long way in the industry. He definitely has had an interesting journey in the industry. Currently, he is the creative head of &TV’s historical show Razia Sultan.

In conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Mansoor talks about his journey so far and the goals he wants to achieve in the future.

Tell us something about yourself? What are the shows you have done so far?

Initially, I acted in shows and Bollywood films but frankly speaking, although I was interested in acting, when I got into the creative business, I just got hooked to it. Guess that's what you call destiny! As a creative, I have worked for SAB TV’s show FIR, Chandrakant Chiplunkar, Gutur Gu and Chintu Aur Pintu.

From being an actor to a creative, how has your journey been so far?

My career has been a roller coaster ride, full of fascinating and amazing stuff. Meeting new people, interacting with them and learning new things from them makes you learn every day.

What according to you is the responsibility of a creative head?

Creativity is the backbone of any content whether it is films or television. You have to convey everything clearly, whatever you write or conceive. Without creativity, the message of any show goes empty. The creative deals with the actors' character graph. They are the ones who are responsible for making the actor understand the changes best. Hence, there are times when the writers write certain scenes that are completely different from the current graph of the actor. In such a situation, a creative has to explain it to the artist. Apart from this, there are a lot of artists who refuse to utter certain lines and it’s our job to convince them.

What attracted you to a historical show?

I think historical shows rule! They are more challenging than other daily soaps. We have to closely analyse the era. These shows are based in 13th century and creating their culture, looks and the entire set is difficult. We are very precise with the culture and dialogues.

So, what kind of shows do you prefer doing – historical or daily soaps?

Daily soaps and kitchen politics is not my cup of tea. I prefer things that are more challenging and fun. I think experience is very important and historical show is best for a creative to explore. They are on a grand scale so you also have to push your limits and come out with better thoughts and creativity. Although daily soaps revolve around metro city and modern story, I can’t handle saas-bahu dramas.

What are your future career plans?

Razia Sultan is the priority for me as I am emotionally connected with the show. I have experienced a lot while working for the show so I just hope it goes on.
