He came, he saw, he conquered and then he disappeared. In a nutshell, this describes Elesh Parujanwala’s journey to stardom and back. No one knew him before Rakhi Ka Swayamvar and no one knows about him after their breakup. Where is he? What is he up to? Why did they split?
These are questions only Elesh has answers to. Excerpts from an exclusive interview conducted over a ‘chat’ with Elesh:
Everyone is curious to know your side of the story about the breakup with Rakhi. What went wrong? We have heard a lot from her, but not a word from you.

Everyone is curious to know your side of the story about the breakup with Rakhi. What went wrong? We have heard a lot from her, but not a word from you.
I too have seen Rakhi's interviews on various channels and shows. They made me laugh. I must admit she is extremely creative! She’s come up with more than 10 reasons why the split happened, so which one is it? Because I still don’t have a clue; and now, don’t even want to know.
Do you feel sad about the whole issue?
In retrospect, I’m happy the break up happened. I treated her with utmost respect and gave her everything that a husband would give his fiancee, but it was never reciprocated. On the contrary, she treated me as her worst enemy!
I can tell you that she was motivated by career advancements and financial gain and nothing more. On her part, it was a big façade she put up about getting publicly married on one show, and then publicly breaking-up in the next show. It was an easy way to perhaps change her image in the media through Swayamwar and project her as a bharatiya-nari. Then on Pati Patni Aur Woh, her true colours came out and she had the audacity to blame the channel for making her look like the ‘bad guy’. Unfortunately, the camera is not biased and what you see is what you get.
Do you regret participating in two back-to-back reality shows?
I have never regretted anything in my life and it applies to this as well. I believe there is a reason behind everything that happens or does not happen in our life. Going through the motions of both the reality shows gave me a clear picture of what show business is all about.
People think that Rakhi Ka Swayamvar was an eye wash and Rakhi was never serious to get married in the show…
As I mentioned earlier, this was an image changing exercise for Rakhi, and nothing more. If she really had the intention to get married, she would have never mistreated me the way she did on the sets of Pati Patni Aur Woh. In fact my producers came up to me and told me how they couldn’t stand Rakhi ill-treating me. How could I even respond to that? She was my fiancée at the time. I smiled and said, ‘I have a lot of patience.’
You have a film academy. Do you plan to run that?
Currently the Acting/Film Making Academy is being handled by my partner. I have now moved on into the import-export business. Now that I have been given a platform to place myself, it is possible and yes I would have to inadvertently thank Rakhi for strengthening Indo-Canadian business ties!
How did your family in Canada react to your split?
Back home, after seeing what Rakhi had to say in the media about me, how would any parent/family member react? Needless to say, what goes around comes around and I am a firm believer in karma.
If you meet Rakhi in real life?
I have not thought about that. I would probably adjust myself to the unpleasant situation to keep myself in a positive frame of mind. Let bygones be bygones.
