Jaya Binju has become famous as the scar-faced Rukmini of Sahara One’s Kesariya Balam Aavo Hamare Des. The show is apparently enjoying a good TRP run and completed 100 episodes today. In a chat with TellyChakkar, Binju talks about her show, her love Sachal Tyagi, on acting and more On her background I am from Delhi and from a well-educated family. My father was a teacher and my mother is a homemaker. I studied mass communication from IP University in Delhi and started working as journalist for Hindustan Times soon after I completed my course. I used to be on the crime beat and was thoroughly enjoying my work. It was fun to go to the police stations, hospitals and chase stories. On acting I joined the newspaper in 2002 and was very happy as a journalist. I never imagined being an actor. I did modeling during my college days. But as you know media houses have guest faculty coming in their office often. There were many known names, who used to come from Mumbai to our office in Delhi and it was there that I was offered an ad. I started juggling between Delhi and Mumbai. Life in Mumbai I started getting a lot of ads soon after my first ad went on-air and it was hectic to shuffle between the two cities. So in 2003 I quit my job as a journalist and shifted my base to Mumbai. I was offered the lead for a show which was supposed to be on Star Plus. The producers were from Delhi while the rest were from Mumbai. It was a very good show and I was hopeful. I shot for some 17-18 episodes, but it got shelved. Soon I was offered Ghar Ek Sapna and after that I was seen in Jassubai Jayantilal Joshi Ki Joint Family. Ajai Sinha liked me in Ghar Ek Sapna and offered me the lead role in Kesariya Balam Aavo Hamare Des. More on Kesariya Balam Aavo Hamare Des The show has successfully completed 100 episodes and we all are celebrating it. I wish to celebrate many more episodes. Since I have a scar on my face, my husband got livid that I didn’t disclose this to him before marriage. I wrote him a letter but my mother-in-law changed it. Now my husband is married to my younger sister and I am left all alone. Currently my husband is romancing my sister! But let me tell you, I think the creative team is planning to take the story forward by getting in a new guy opposite me. On her fiancé Sachal Tyagi We both met on the sets of Ghar Ek Sapna in which we were paired opposite each other. We became good friends, but he left the show soon. We started meeting each other and now it’s been three years we have been seeing each other. We were about to get married but I lost my father two months ago so we postponed our plans. But we will tie the knot by the end of this year for sure. On her future plans I don’t plan things in advance and take things as they come. I just want to do quality work and will keep looking for good roles. I have been getting offers from many producers and they want me as lead. But I have been shooting for Kesariya…. for 25 days a month and I have no time to take any other show. I want to take things easy and I am sure God will help me get good work in future too.
