Sana Saeed, the pretty and talented actor entered the dance floor of Colors’ Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as a whiff of fresh air, and has been bettering her dancing skills week after week.
In a quick chat with Tellychakkar.com, this 24 year old who entered the contest via wild card talks her heart out on her Jhalak journey…
What do you feel about your journey in Jhalak so far?
Quite exciting, but a tough task at the same time as I am not a trained dancer. I have to work very hard and remember every step. But as dance is my next passion after acting, this show is the biggest platform for me to learn new styles of dancing.
Your aerial act bagged the top billing recently…
It was a big challenge as I had never attempted this type of dance form before. My entire body has turned blue, for when you don’t know the technique, you keep falling wrongly on the pole. I really pushed the envelope with the above aerial act. When I missed out on perfect scores in previous outings, I kept telling myself that something is missing and I needed to up the ante a tad more and I am glad that it finally happened.
Which act is closest to your heart?
The Paso Doble and crumbling act where I had dressed up as a panther. It was real fun as I totally got into my character, costume and make up et al. I did not even know that this kind of a dance form even existed.
Talk a bit about your special bonding with judge Karan Johar?
He is a great friend. We had first worked together in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai where I was a kid. Then we again met after 15 years in Student Of The Year (2012). And now the connection continues with this reality show. He is a real live-wire around and I enjoy his company. He is my lucky mascot for whenever I have worked with him things have always rocked. Since he knows me so well, he is very well aware about what I can pull off or not and where I have really bent my back to get it just right. So his comments obviously mean a lot to me. Having said this, the remarks of the other two judges Remo D'Souza and Madhuri Dixit are also given equal importance when me and my team sit down to discuss our next act .
What do you feel about your choreographer Tushar?
He is not only good in choreography but his concepts are also diverse and out of the box. He works very hard on all facets. Within a short time I have covered many dance forms beginning with Bollywood and Latin.
How is your equation with other contestants in the green room?
I enjoy great bonding with one and all. I always like to have fun wherever I go. Siddharth Shukla is my closest friend in Jhalak; we know each other since the past six /seven years. Even Shaan is superb. If anybody keeps the entire proceeds in splits, it is our anchors Manish Paul and Kapil Sharma, they are awesome.
What is your plan of action for the coming weeks?
As the rounds move up we really need to buck up. For now we will have two performances ever week. Last Sunday we had one sole and one group act, this coming week we will have two solo acts. Here the tension further increases for we also need to be prepared for the eventuality of a face off, if we do land up in the bottom two. We just get four days to practice for all this, in which we take one day to plan the next item, one day goes in technical rehearsals and the last day is the performance night .
Who do you think will reach the finale?
Lauren Gottlieb is too good, even Drashti (Dhami) and Salman (Yusuff Khan) are really up there. I also like the kids Sumanth and Sonali.
