13th Indian Telly Awards: Best Anchor/s
Anchors are every show’s opening attraction. A good anchor can end up bringing the show great TRPs even if the content is not exactly praiseworthy. At Indian Telly Awards we have time and again recognized the importance of anchors and awarded the deserving ones. This time we have six powerful contenders vying for the best anchor award at the 13th Indian Telly Awards. Let’s take a look at the deserving nominees. Rannvijay Singh (MTV Roadies X1 - Ride For Respect) Being an Ex Roadie, Rannvijay has always been the contestants anchor. Unlike the hot headed Raghu and Rajeev, Rannvijay’s presence often had a calming effect on frustrated contestants. He has always been able to connect well with the trauma of contestants. Just when the chips are down, we have seen Rannvijay taking charge to instill renewed spirit and courage in the beleaguered contestants. Manish Paul & Kapil Sharma (Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - Dancing with Stars) What happens when you get two of the country’s best known Hindi comedians on stage together? A laugh riot is certainly guaranteed. Kapil Sharma and Manish Paul literally brought the house down with their terrific comic timing and whipped up the nation’s frenzy which ultimately ended up giving Jhalak…some amazing TRPs. Once the show ended, Manish debuted in Bollywood while Kapil scaled greater heights with his now trending show Comedy Nights With Kapil. Jay Bhanushali (Dance India Dance Super Moms) Certainly one of the best looking anchors in business today, Jay is extremely spontaneous and easy on your eye when it comes to anchoring. Loved alike by both old and young alike, Jay’s anchoring style has struck a chord time and again with one and all. He often ends up becoming the punching bag for judges and Mithun Chakraborthy much to the delight of the viewers. Karan Wahi & Gautam Rode (Nach Baliye 6) Bromance ruled Nach Baliye 6 when two hot hunks of Indian television Karan Wahi and Gautam Rode were roped in to host the show. They gave women ample opportunities to go weak in their knees by showing off their well-chiseled body. They also do an Aamir Khan by stripping off to impress PK’s actress Anushka Sharma who was a special guest on one of the episodes. Salman Khan (Bigg Boss Season – 7) We are sure that if given a chance Salman would like to forget season 7 in a jiffy. Controversies rocked the show right from the very beginning and Salman’s apparent partiality created much unrest and discontentment among many inmates. He also reportedly lost his cool on quite a few occasions during his run-ins with contestants. Sallu Bhai had almost made up his mind to not host Bigg Boss any further until Colors made him change his decision by doling out a few extra dollars this season. Money matters after all. As an anchor, Salman hit rock bottom last season and neither did the heaven and hell concept create much buzz. Yet Salman find himself in this nomination list just because he is Salman Khan and many watched Bigg Boss just to see their favourite Khan in action. Rohit Shetty (Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi Season – 5) The hottest director in Bollywood decided to test waters on the small screen but with no great success. Keeping with his action director image, Rohit personally decided the stunts to be performed by all contestants. He encouraged those who did well and shouted those who faltered. Many felt he lacked the punch but there were others who gave him the benefit of doubt since a director is not exactly supposed to be great on camera. So who is your favourite?
