13th Indian Telly Awards: Vote Now- Best Continuing TV program

An Indian soap opera is generally a 'Lambi Race Ka Ghoda'. Unless it gets dismal viewership, one can be rest assured that the serial will run for at least a couple of years. We take a look at those serials that have been nominated by the 13th Indian Telly Awards in the 'Continuing TV Program' category.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (Star Plus)

Started in January 2009,Rajan Shahi's Director's Kut Productions produced romantic drama Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has till date completed more than 1500 episodes and is still going strong. The show revolves around the happenings within the household of an Udaipur based family. Such is the popularity of this show that it has also been dubbed for the South Indian markerts as well.

Uttaran (Colors)
Produced by Pintoo and Rupali Guha, Uttaran started way back in 2008. As of August 2014, this serial has beamed close to 1500 episodes and is still in its first season. One of the highest rated serials of Colors, Uttaran chronicles the life of two friends from different economic backgrounds. Uttaran was dubbed into Tamil and Malayalam as well.

F I R (SAB TV)
This is one of India's oldest running sitcoms. Produced by Edit II productions, FIR completed 1200 episodes as of June 2014. This sitcom made Kavita Kaushik a household name in the country.

C I D (Sony Entertainment Television)
CID is officially the oldest running television series in India having completed 16 glorious years. Started way back in 1998 by B.P Singh, CID officers ACP Pradyuman and Daya have become cult characters today. Daya very recently was seen in Singham Returns while Shivaji Satam who plays the central character continues to devote time equally to movies and CID. The series has completed 7 seasons till date.

Balika Vadhu - Kacchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte (Colors)

Colors breakthrough serial on child marriage, Balika Vadhu started way back in 2008 with child actor Avika Gor essaying the central character. This Sphere origins serial has completed 1657 episodes as of August and today continues to telecast its storyline with a brand new starcast.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma (SAB TV)

Started in 2008, this Neela Telefilms sitcom has been SAB TV's major draw. Graced by all top Bollywood stars to promote their films, Taarak...has been running on television since 2008 and has completed 1500 episodes till now. Now that's quite a phenomenon run.

Pavitra Rishta (Zee TV)
Adapted from a Tamil serial, this Balaji Telefilms soap opera started its dream run in 2009. Starring Ankita Lokhande, this serial has completed 1383 episode as of August 2014. And the form with which it is riding, one can expect many more episodes to follow in the days to come.
