Acting is a very expensive profession: Meer Ali

Meer Ali
A college ragging incident helped the good looking Meer Ali realise that he was cut to be on the ramp and that started his career towards being a supermodel. Being on the same stage of Gladrags Model hunt with Vivian D’sena and Mrunal Jain, Meer stepped into the world of glamour having come all the way from Hyderabad. Sharing his journey on the same, he says, “I got to do some wonderful shows and ads as a model and luckily for me I got a chance to play the lead in the season two of Miley Jab Hum Tum. But the show was scrapped in just three months. Though I term the show as a very great break, I don’t know for what reasons the show could not touch viewer’s heart.” “Post that I played the love guru in Navya and was highly appreciated for my small yet strong role. I was also nominated as the best supporting actor in the New Talent Awards (2011). With my character losing track, I chose to move out of the show and took up modeling once again. A year ago I bagged Shapath, and the sailing till yet has been quite smooth.” adds Meer. Having started his career as a lead, we wondered why he opted for a multicast Shapath for his comeback. He answers, “Back then I was too young and with people having the notion that models cannot act, I was always put down. But gradually I groomed myself to change the mindset of the people and now I am quite happy doing Shapath.” So what is his take on people’s perception that models cannot act? “Well it’s completely a myth. For I feel that models have better understanding of camera and also know how to carry them well. It’s just that no model can bear looking ugly which can create a problem while emoting. But we are more exposed to the culture and are inherent on maintaining ourselves,” replies the perfectly fit actor. We also wondered if he is satisfied being part of a multicast show. “I am quite grateful to be a part of such a wonderful team. Also, even though the show is a multicast, there are individual plots for all. Anurag, my character in the show, gets quite prominence with some episodes focusing entirely on me. Also with a love angle, I have quite a lot in my hand,” observes a smiling Meer. And what do you have to say to newcomers in the industry who jump into the profession without a thought? “Acting is a very expensive profession and thus I feel people should be prepared before they enter the industry. Having a backup plan always works, for there is no dearth of talent eyeing for jobs here. Also you need to carry yourself well and for that you need money. Don't get disheartened by failures and hence always plan your journey well in advance,” the handsome guy replies. That’s the right attitude, Meer!!
