Presently, little kids are wooing TV audiences at the 8.00 pm slot. Anandi of Balika Vadhu has emerged as the hands down favourite of the couch potatoes. Zee TV and NDTV Imagine have little Jhansi ki Rani and Meera respectively.
Sadly, Sagar Pictures grandiose period drama Meera has fallen behind to Anandi and Rani Laxmibai. The show is now heading towards its natural story progression which obviously means the producer will have to look for a new Meera. Actress Aditi Sajwan (aka Yashoda of Jai Shri Krishna) has emerged as the firm favourite to take over from little Ashika Bhatia but the former still hasn’t inked the deal with her producer.
When contacted Sajwan said, “The producers are very keen on me playing the role. However, I still haven’t signed the contract as I have certain terms which need to be looked into. I’ll be meeting my producers today and it will be decided whether I do the show or not.”
Producer Meenakshi Sagar avers, “Aditi is the perfect choice to play Meera. We liked what we saw of her in the look test. However, the situation is 50:50 now. We’re hoping that she agrees to do the show.”
Is this leap brought about because the show hasn’t done well?
“No, it’s just a natural progression of the story. Our average TRP has been 0.6 which isn’t all that good but we’re just going ahead with the story. So, we need to show a grown-up Meera,” Sagar replied.
