Ali Asgar aka Kamal has tasted great success for his devar act in Kahaani Ghar Ghar ki. But now the actor is tuning his energies in a different direction. The versatile actor will soon don a producer's hat under a banner named Cloud 9. And the first venture is an off beat Marathi experimental film. The untitled film was conceived by Ali himself. Directed by Ankush Bhatt, the starcast includes Sachin Pilgaonkar, Ila Bhatt, Girija Oak, Subhodh Bhave, Mohan Joshi and Ashok Saraf. We caught with an elated Ali, who said, "It's going to be an experimental film. Sachinji is helping me produce it; actually he's my friend, philosopher and guide. For a long time, I've been wanting to do something on my own. Now, after this project lets see how things shape up." But why has the actor decided to do a Marathi film which is not really up his sleeves? "I think Marathi film audiences' are open to try out a new film. I don't think, I can do that with a Bollywood film. Also, I am putting in my own money, so it's a bit of a risk though a calculated one. Somehow, I don't like partnerships and people bossing over me. I want to be accountable for my own project. Also, it gives me the scope to get a bit creative which I cannot do in my serial as an actor," reveals Ali The actor, along with Kahaani will also be seen as one of the jodis in Sony's Comedy Circus, says the its a great challenge to be on this show. "I've never done theatre, so this show is proving out to be really challenging. One is just not getting the comic timing right but one has to be in sync with the studio audience, judges and audiences," says Ali So, after seven of playing Kamal, isn't he bored of doing the same act day in and out? Elaborating on his role in Kahaani, he says, "I've been lucky in the sense that Kamal's character has lots of shades to it. Not just that but it's also one of the principle characters. Initially, he was cynical and not too sure of himself. Later, he landed up with a wife like Pallavi. Then he lost her, and for a long time he was without a wife. He's now happily married to a sensible and responsible lady.' And so the Kahaani goes on!
