Alok Nath's tenure in Zee TV's Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se to come to an end

Alok Nath
The beautiful equation of the grandfather Balwant Rana, essayed by veteran actor Alok Nath, and his granddaughter Shivani (Mansi Shrivastava) in FilmFarm India’s Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se on Zee TV, has been nothing short of a fairy tale story wherein the girl has been brought up amidst all luxuries provided to her by her grandfather. We now hear that Shivani will soon lose her grandfather’s comforting shoulder and his love… Yes, the news coming in is that Alok Nath’s character will soon die on the show. As per a reliable source, even before the launch of Do Dil.. it was decided that the Dadaji, Balwant Rana would die after two months of the show’s launch. And this major setback in Shivani’s life will facilitate the story progression. However, soon after the launch the character was extended as the viewers liked the bonding between them. Also, the channel and makers wanted to have the senior actor of the stature of Alok Nath as long as possible on the show, as the opening numbers have been very impressive. Our source further adds that, the story will move into the Raghu (Arhaan Behll) household only when Shivani’s sole support system in the form of Dadaji is not around her. Hence this was a creative decision taken even before the launch. The buzz is that Balwant will breathe his last sometime in the end of September 2013, and the story line is slowly moving towards that. When contacted, Alok Nath told Tellychakkar.com, “Yes, it was always supposed to be a cameo. My character had to die. In fact, when I took up the show, my character was to be bumped off in two months. But guess it got an extension because the viewers loved his track. As of now, I have no further information on when the Dada is going to die. Since I had some prior commitments, I could not do a full-fledged role with Film Farm India, and that is when they offered me this important cameo. I have never worked with FilmFarm earlier; so I took this up as I wanted to work with Rupali (Producer Rupali Guha).” He went on to say, “It will be a creative call as to when my character needs to meet its end. Having said this, you never know, I might still be required to shoot for flashes as Dadaji will always remain to be in the memories of Shivani, even after his death.” Aah, we hope the creative team decides to show more of the Alok Nath magic on the show.
