Bachchan continues his TV innings with Sony this time and KBC

Kaun Banega Crorepati which changed the fortunes of Star TV in its very first edition returns with a new season with the original host, Amitabh Bachchan but on a different channel. Last evening, Sony launched the in Mumbai ending all 'Is Aamir Khan doing KBC this time?' speculations. Producer Siddharth Basu confirmed, “BIG Synergy looks forward to working together with the iconic host and Sony to carry home the magic of the show that rocked the nation, once again.” Speaking about the show, neither the channel officials nor the host were willing to give away any details. For most questions, their answer was, “We will announce that soon. You will have to be patient.” That was a tall order, considering the venue was jam packed with pen pushers, TV cameras and hangers-on. However, the good news is that the phone lines would open in August. Ajit Thakur, EVP & Business Head, said, “Talking about the participation process, the phone lines would open sometime in August for everyone in the country. This time the participation process is going be bigger and better than before. There are multiple lines available and we have a backup call centre to take care of the phone calls. It is far more elaborate now. Later, we shall call everyone who shall give the correct answers to the questions, pretty much based on the knowledge of the show, which will be like a ground event with a public exam. After which, the contestants will be asked final 3 questions by Sir (Amitabh Bachchan) through a video call. And that’s how we will select our 10 contestants for the ‘fastest finger first’ on the show. There are many other interesting changes in the format too but we will let you know soon about them.” Reportedly, the show is currently under pre-production. Meanwhile, Bachchan was at his wittiest best. For instance, when a TV journo was persistently asking about why the channel thought of Bachchan to host the show, he intervened to answer it with, “Ma’am, you don’t like me doing the show?” Well, we hope the wit rubs off on the show too when it goes on air for the fourth time now.
