Sony’s long running dance show Boogie Woogie will be soon back with a new season. DPL (Dance Premier League) had taken its place and now it’s IPL (Indian Premiere League) which will push it further. The show won’t have any major changes except that the auditions will be on a bigger scale, so that dancers from every corner of India can showcase their talent.
Ravi Behl along with brothers Naved and Javed Jaffrey will judge the show. Naved says, “ Boogie Woogie and CID are the bases of Sony TV. We are proud that ours is one of the longest running shows. Our show has always been very simple, come, dance, take points and go back with prizes.”
He adds, “This time we are having auditions on a bigger level and we will have talents from the smaller parts of India. This time we will have new paploos (read jigs, jokes, punches) and since we are returning, we will do it with a bang.”
Boogie Woogie will be having a lot of kids’ episodes this time. Naved says, “Kids who dance in our show do not perform under pressure. We have a counsellor on the sets both for the parents and the kids and we ask them to dance like they would at a friend’s party. You know we have contestants who participated when they were kids and are now coming back as teenagers. Then there were teenagers who performed and now their kids are coming in. We are glad that Boogie Woogie has maintained such a relationship with its viewers even after so many years.”
But with a Dance India Dance around, do people still watch Boogie Woogie? Naved says, “Boogie Woogie has its own loyal viewers and they have been eagerly waiting for the show to come back. Hum hum hain aur baaki sab paani kam hai and Boogie Woogie mein hi dum hai. I think viewers love the show because it’s simple and uncomplicated. We don’t have drama on our show and don’t fight like other judges of different shows. We are the best”.
The show is currently having auditions and it will be back in two months’ time, but other things will get clearer post IPL.
