First choice, Sanjeeda Sheikh to bag the lead role in Star Plus' Daag?

Talented and versatile actor Sanjeeda Sheikh was always the first option to play the female lead in Star Plus’ upcoming show, Daag produced by Cinevistaas Ltd. The actress had shot for the pilot many months back (the show is in the making for more than a year now), but had hopped on to grab the lead role in Zee TV’s Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan owing to the Star show getting delayed. Well, the irony is that it looks as though Sanjeeda was destined to play the lead face in Daag. Our readers would clearly remember that Tellychakkar.com had recently carried an article stating that Mouni Roy, Aishwarya Sakhuja and Binny Sharma were in contention for the prized role. As per our reliable source, it has been a very close call between Binny and Sanjeeda. The channel as well as the production house was keen on getting their original choice, Sanjeeda on board. And now that Sanjeeda’s Zee TV show has ended, she obviously gets into an automatic consideration. A little birdie has whispered to us that though the final approval from the channel is still awaited, it looks as though Sanjeeda has managed to grab the lead role. When contacted, Sanjeeda told us that she is out of town at the moment and will not be able to talk. Our efforts to reach Producer Siddharth Malhotra for a confirmation proved futile. As we know, this big ticket fiction show on Star Plus is said to be adapted from the Bollywood flick Khoon Bhari Maang.
