I am here to become a good actor, not a star: Rahul Diwedi

Rahul Diwedi
He has had us in splits with his flamboyant nature and quirky humour on the popular show Suhani Si Ek Ladki. Rahul Diwedi, better known as Ramesh, the household help from the show, spoke to us about a variety of things close to his heart. Take a look: Born and raised in Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, Diwedi landed in Mumbai in 2011 to make a mark in Bollywood. His parents wanted him to enter politics (his mother is the Chairman of BJP in Etawah, while his father is a government employee), and he even did a stint as a Youth Leader of BJP in his hometown. But he soon realised where his happiness was and came to the city of dreams to pursue his childhood passion of becoming an actor. Unlike other actors who wax eloquent about their 'struggle' days, Diwedi was rather to-the-point and honest about it. "When actors talk about sleeping at stations and surviving on Vada Pavs, I get a sense that they are doing it for publicity," he said. When we asked him about his own struggle days, "My aunt Alpana Talwar, who was a former actress in many shows on Doordarshan, inspired me to come here," he said. He added further, "In fact, she helped me a lot when I first moved here. I will always be grateful to her." The character that has made him a household name is something he absolutely enjoys doing. "My character is really funny. Ramesh is the Birla family's naukar. He does whatever he wants because the family doesn't want to let go of him," he said. Just like his onscreen character, he is a also a big Amitabh Bachchan fan and hopes to meet his idol one day.” Talking of idols, there's one more actor Diwedi worships. "I want to work with Naseeruddin Shah once. I am very big fan and consider him my idol," he said. And the one actress who he adores is, "Madhuri Dixit. I have grown up on her movies,” he exclaimed. We tried to probe him about his personal life. But he was very clear about achieving his goal of becoming a Bollywood actor before getting into relationships. Atta boy, we must say! The talented actor is also pursuing his MBA, alongside his acting commitments. He hopes to establish himself as an actor five years down the lane. "I want to be known as an actor as I am not here to become a star!" We wish the youngster a successful career ahead.
