Better known as the bad girl of Channel V’s Paanch, Rashi Mal is a bundle of talent in real life.
In a conversation with the actress, we at Tellychakkar.com got to discover the different sides of her personality.
The actress started her television career with Bejoy Nambiar’s MTV Rush in which she was a part of one of the stories. Then she got her first major TV break in Paanch. However acting is not the only art that she masters; the actress who holds an engineering degree can dance and sing as well. She also loves theatre, the platform she was part of for five odd years.
Explaining about her passion, Rashi told us, “I used to choreograph at Ashley Lobo’s dance academy, but I moved out of it after I decided to focus on acting. Singing is something that I am still working on as I had left it some time back to concentrate on my studies. Basically I admire musical theatre and am sure when I get to be a part of it I would showcase all my talent.”
What about TV, doesn’t she want to become a well-known TV personality and work on a well-known GEC someday? “No, I am not going to do something that I am not excited about. Neither is it about money, for had it been the case I would have been working in some firm. But I know that I’ve had to do a lot to live my dreams. Hence I will take up what I can relate to. Having said this, I am also looking forward to doing films. Talks are on and let’s see when things materialize,” she answered.
Why did you choose Paanch? “This was not planned either. But when an interesting opportunity comes your way one must take it up, I feel. Though I did have some reservations about it initially, but when I heard the story and concept, I gave it a nod. This is very different from the funny and bubbly characters that I’ve essayed in theatre. So I am looking at testing my skills and discovering myself better,” Rashi averred.
How much has this character changed you? “In my younger days I used to be a tomboy, something that I had outgrown in these many years. But then Gauri (her character in Paanch) happens to be a tomboy. Thus all the checks and denims remind me of my younger days. But at times I feel that I might forget wearing heels, dresses and my lipsticks,” concluded the actress with a smile.
We hope you have a great future!!
