Victory has many brothers and sisters but defeat is an orphan. This adage will be most remembered by the producers of Bloody Isshq (Ashavari Media Pvt Ltd). This Arup Dutta film which stars TV actor Shilpa Anand as one of the three leads sank without a trace when it released last Friday (1 March 2013).
The buzz says that it was taken off from many theaters on the first day itself when it did not even generate 10% footfalls.
When we called up Shilpa to ask the reason for the film’s failure, she simply washed her hands off her debut film project saying, “I never expected this suspense thriller to really take off, as I did not get the feel-good feeling. Despite that, I took part in all the promotional activities which were required of me.”
When asked about what went wrong, she averred, “I really cannot say as I have not seen the film and have been travelling over the past few days. Also, I cannot comment either on the content or on the excessive promotions that are required for films that do not have major stars.”
For the uninitiated, the film also saw a delay of about six months and reports say that this might have also contributed to the debacle.
Moving ahead, Shilpa who is looking for a good TV offer after Dill Mill Gayye admitted that she is hoping that she gets a good offer soon, lest she will have to do something for money again. “I am game for anything, be it TV or cinema. The only criteria is that it needs to be interesting.”
Shilpa, hope you get to see the greener side of the grass soon.
