I want to do Rockstar like role in Bollywood - Aakarshan Singh

Aakarshan Singh
It's not every day that you land a lead role in a mega serial just five months after arriving in the tinsel town of Mumbai. That's what we call destiny and perhaps it was Aakarshan Singh too was destined to essay the lead role of Aryan in Zee TV's new show, Maharakshak Aryan. Born in Kanpur and raised in different cities of India courtesy his father who is in the Indian Air Force, Aakarshan Singh comes across as an uber confident and sure footed individual focused on making it big in the telly and film world. And right from his early childhood it was acting that motivated and excited him more than anything else. Says Aakarshan, " Like every other parent, my father and mother too wanted me to get into IIT. But I am of the opinion that you should only that which your heart desires. Acting interested me more than anything else and I ended up soon expressing my desire to my parents." While all hell didn't break loose at Aakarshan's place, his parents were not too kicked up about Aryan's career dreams but ultimately gave in to their son's demands and wishes. With his parent's blessings, the 20- something Aryan left for Mumbai in search of that elusive role that would make famous. Says Aakarshan, "I came to Mumbai in January this year and started going for a lot many auditions. A friend informed me about Zee's new show's audition and I thought if giving it a try. When I went for the audition, I was given two scripts, that of a geek and superhero and asked to perform on both. I did and thankfully by the grace of god I got selected me." The young lad admits that getting selected to play the lead did come as a surprise. "My initial plan was to do a few episodics and then go back to my hometown but thankfully Aryan happened. I do feel a bit of a pressure considering the fact that I am the lead and will be present in almost every frame but I have taken it as a challenge to perform to the best of my abilities in whatever I have done in the show." Playing a superhero was quite tough in screen for the debutant who confesses that perfoming harness supported stunts were challenging but exciting as well. While he will be making his debut with television, films is where Aakarshan ultimately wants to be. Reveals the young actor, "It's every actor's dream to act in a Hindi film and I am no different. Someday I would like do a Rockstar like character that Ranbir Kapoor essayed." Let's hope Aakarshan realises his Bollywood dream soon as well.
