MUMBAI: It seems all the reality shows revolving around children have to be extra careful with their content as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has warned them. I&B Ministry has issued an advisory based on the observation that young children are seen performing dance moves on several dance based television reality shows imitating grown up actors or performers and as such, these moves are inappropriate for kids.
A statement from the ministry said, “These moves are often suggestive and age-inappropriate. Such acts may also have a distressing effect on children, impacting them at a young and impressionable age. The Ministry has accordingly issued an Advisory to all private satellite TV channels to avoid showing children in indecent, suggestive and inappropriate manner in dance reality shows or other such programmes. The channels have been further advised to exercise maximum restraint, sensitivity and caution while showing such reality shows and programmes.”
The statement further added that all private satellite TV channels are expected to abide by the provisions contained in the Programme & Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995.
