Lubna Salim, the talented and versatile actress who got popular as Leela Thakkar in the long-running show Baa Bahu Aur Baby, is excited and looking forward to the feedback of her just-released film OMG (Oh My God), directed by Umesh Shukla. Lubna essays the role of Paresh Rawal’s wife in the movie. The story is about Kanji Bhai played by Paresh Rawal who is a Nastik (Atheist) by nature. His wife Sushila is a complete contrast to him and is a firm believer inGod. And this always creates constant friction between the couple. All the circumstances that this simple Gujarati family goes through prompt Sushila to change her husband into believing in God. And this is when God himself descends on earth to make Kanji Bhai believe in the Almighty. Talking about her experience of shooting for the film, Lubna tells Tellychakkar.com, “I have to tell you that I am always lucky to have bagged interesting roles. Director Umesh (Shukla) is a good friend of mine, we used to work in intercollegiate plays and it was nice of him to have remembered me after so many years for this role. They actually wanted actors with a theatre background and I got chosen to play Pareshji’s wife.” She goes on, “The lady always has this phrase to tell her husband Kanji, ‘Ab toh yakeen karlo Bhagwan hai…’but Kanji always refuses to believe. And this is when God comes down to make him believe. It is a wonderfully shot film and I simply enjoyed being part of it.” About the experience of working with Paresh Rawal, Lubna states, “He is such a prepared man and the biggest challenge for all of us was to finish a scene in one take. He has been playing the character in both the Hindi and Gujarati plays, and this character is a cakewalk for him. But for me this was a first experience working in such a role, and that too with a man of the stature of Paresh Rawal. He was easy-going all through the shoot and it was wonderful to work with him.” We could not stop asking Lubna about her probable comeback to television. “Well, I am on the lookout for a challenging role. But all I get to see is the same mundane roles on TV. I want to come back, and am waiting for a big challenge to be thrown to me.” Lubna, we wish you all the best for the movie and for your upcoming projects.
