My grandmother does not like my wife Addite wearing short clothes - Mohit Malik

Mohit Malik is quite kicked about his Rajput character in the Zee TV show Doli Armaanon Ki (Spellbound Productions). “Samrat Singh Rathore is a self centered man who has risen the hard way. He is very arrogant and single handedly runs his family. When it comes to choice of wife, he wants a girl who listens to his every order. What I like about him is that he is very realistic. Most people in real life are grey like him. He means good, but his way of talking hurts others.” Here Mohit who has also done shows such as Milli, Pratigya and Suvreen Guggal – Topper of The Year adds that he is happy with the fact that people are beginning to dislike his character. “This shows that I am doing a good job of portraying the character as it’s written. Folks who don’t know me ask my set guys, is he equally bad in real life. They tell me how can such a good looking guy behave like this?” What does better half Addite say about Samrat, “She likes my work and says that since he is so unlike me. It is like watching someone else. Here I must admit that it was a challenge to play him, as I don’t think like him. The only thing similar between us is that we are both workaholics.” When asked about the attitude of men towards women he shared, “Let’s face it, around 40/45% of Indians still think like my character and his family. And to be fair to them what they say is not wrong. E.g. my grandmother does not want her daughter-in-law to wear short dresses, for she thinks it is not safe. Similarly other people don’t want women to step out of the house.” “Correspondingly such conservative thoughts will not work in urban areas. I also find it wrong, but we will have to live with them. We also have to accept the attitude in small towns like Jhansi where our show is set or other parts of the country which are still not modern.” Well said, Mohit!!!
