Neetu Wadhwa better known as Roopvati of Laagi Tujhse Lagan is returning to her first love, theater. She is doing a play Joh Tera Hai Woh Mera Hai along with veteran actors Asrani and Amita Nangia. “This Vijay Khare presentation will open on the 1st of next month (1 May 2013) in Mumbai after which we will travel all over India and aboard for more staging.” Talking about the concept she says, “This comedy revolves around two couples two couples. The elder one essayed by Asrani ji and Amita ji and the younger one portrayed by me and my co-star. I don’t want to say more about the story as that is a suspense.” This is not Neetu’s first brush with stage. “I began my acting career back in Delhi through stage. I dabbled in this medium ( all kinds of genres) for four years before moving to Mumbai, where I did other TV show such as Mamta, Devyani and Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat etc.” Dwelling further on the important of doing stage, Neetu shares, “It is a different high for you are thrown in front of a live audience. You need to learn to improvise on the spot if you goof up. Some of the better known performers in Bollywood always have a stage background. Even today veterans like Shabana Azmi continue to do theater.” Here Neetu adds that, “it is very good that TV actors are making a beeline to stage as it is not only financially lucrative now (as opposed to before) but also you learn much more about the craft.” Neetu is hopeful that stage will make her more prepared for films which is her ultimate dream. She has already done a south project and now wants to try her luck in Bollywood.
