Seasoned actress Pratima Kannan makes her debut in a comical role in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai

MUMBAI: Enjoying a great body of work and having some of the biggest hit movies and television shows to her credit, veteran actress Pratima Kannan is all set to take on a new avatar on television. Known for acing negative roles that soon became a trademark for her, after almost two decades, Pratima has found herself at the helm on the small screen playing her first-ever comical role in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai.

A renowned name from the National School of drama, actor Pratima Kannan has played several roles across genres but surprisingly never got an opportunity to play a light-hearted character.

Pratima will be essaying the role of Helen Mishra, Vibhuti’s (Aasif Sheikh) stepmother. She is quite stylish and hip, who loves her son immensely and is overprotective. She is unlike typical saas, but rather a modern-day mother-in-law with a progressive outlook and dress sense. Although she does not see eye to eye with her daughter-in-law, Anita (Saumya Tandon) she loves her nevertheless.

Ecstatic about portraying a refreshing character the actress said “It’s easy to get typecast in this industry. Surprisingly, during my theatre days, I never played a single negative role. But everything changed for me after I came to Mumbai. A lot of makers saw great potential for me especially in for grey and negative characters.

Adding further, she actor said “I was overjoyed when I received this offer for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. The show is quite popular amongst the television audience, including my family. In fact, back home in Delhi, my mom loves the show so much that she keeps watching the show on a loop. When they heard that I bagged a role in the show, they just couldn’t contain their happiness and went completely berserk. Unlike my previous characters wherein I had a certain look and getup, but here, I will be myself without any ancillary accessories and make-up for making me look much older than my actual age (laughs).”

In the upcoming episode, Helen will be seen all excited about her expensive necklace worth 9 lakh. Anita wants to borrow it, but Helen outrightly refuses. On the other hand, Angoori is trying hard to get rid of a spell that has been cast on her for robbing this very expensive necklace. But will she succeed? Watch how the mystery of the missing necklace is unraveled by our Vibhuti Bhaiya.
