The tall, dark and handsome looking Arhaan Behll, better remembered as Krishna of Star Plus’ Pratigya, is back to entertain the audiences as Raghu in Zee TV’s Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se (FilmFarm Productions).
So will the audiences accept their favourite Krishna as Raghu? “For me being recognized as Krishna is an advantage. To give a very simple example when I was in Jodhpur for the outdoor shoots of Do Dil…. a lot of people kept yelling Krishna! Krishna! from their roof tops. So when a character is that popular, I don’t think I’d want to change that; it’s just that I am getting back in a new show playing a new character and I just hope that the audiences like it,” avers Arhaan.
But you also opted out of Pratigya 2? “Yes, they had approached me for the show earlier but I did not take it up as I had already played Krishna for three years and wanted to do something different. Apart from that, had I taken up Pratigya 2, I would have killed the originality of the character. And sincerely speaking, I did not want to do that,” states the actor.
Talking about his character Raghu, he observes, “This is something which is in complete contrast to Krishna. I can also relate to him as Raghu is a very ordinary man and does basic household work that I never did in Pratigya.”
A lot of people have been comparing Arhaan’s character to that of Salman Khan in Bodyguard. When asked how he takes this comparison, he opines, “I have heard that my look in the promo is a lot like that of Salman in Bodygaurd. But, I am not the right person to answer this as I haven’t watched the movie. As far as Raghu is concerned, he is a multitasking man who does the simplest to the most difficult tasks in the house. So, I think restricting him to Bodygaurd wouldn’t be fair.”
Do we really find people like Raghu in real life? “Being simple is most difficult and as I mentioned earlier, Raghu has a mundane lifestyle. He is hard working but is also content in life. These qualities are hard to find,” Arhaan replies.
Does this mean the audience will have a difficulty in connecting with Raghu? “I feel each and every person will find at least 10 or 20 per cent of themselves in Raghu which will help them connect with him,” he maintains.
Further when we asked Arhaan about the factors he keeps in mind while selecting a character, he answers, “I see the scope of performance. As Raghu, from his body language to everything else, you have to add something or the other of your own. So there is a lot of opportunity to perform.”
“For me playing a character means a lot of hard work and research. I talk to the makers, try and understand the character and behind all this, my intention is always for the character to turn out to be good. If it does not come out well, I spend sleepless nights,” he reveals.
A lot of complaints have been creeping in about Arhaan’s look not being too different from his previous show. “They could only change the costume by giving me a Chinese collared kurta instead of the shirts, chappals instead of shoes, normal jeans in place of the narrow bottom and the Godly thread instead of the beads. Apart from this, the stubble is more to make the age difference between Shivani (Mansi Srivastava) and Raghu look more obvious. My hairstyle hasn’t changed much either except for the fact that it’s a bit shorter, but then they told me that this was my USP,” he smiles out.
Lastly, talking about his wedding plan, he states, “I am too young; I will marry once I am 40 (laughs).”
We wish you luck with the show Arhaan!!!
