The Truce: Sunil Grover’s show won’t take on Kapil Sharma’s Comedy Nights With Kapil

Star has reversed its decision to take on Comedy Nights With Kapil head-on. It was earlier decided that Sunil Grover would create a comedy show which would be modelled on the same format as Kapil’s show and would be telecast at the same time too. However the channel has now decided to steer clear of the Kapil factor. Says a source, “Star has decided to not take on Comedy Nights With Kapil (Colors). Though Sunil Grover’s show would be formatted like Kapil’s show it won’t be telecast at the same time.” Grover’s show is expected to begin in March 2014. Apparently Sunil and Kapil have met and discussed the issue and called for a collective truce. Confront Sunil Grover over the confrontation with Kapil, and Sunil says, “We are very much at peace with one another. At the moment I can’t tell you much about my show except that we aren’t looking at taking on Kapil, or anyone else. I am happy in my own space. Also, I don’t want to see the show as the sum-total of my career. It will only be a stopover.” However Gutthi will re-appear in Sunil’s own show. “There‘s no getting away from her. My fans enjoy watching Gutthi. Recently I hosted an awards function with Shreyas Talpade and I was asked to appear on stage as Gutthi. I preferred to play another woman character.” Sunil Grover feels 2013 has brought him tremendous recognition. “There was a time when I used to stand by the roadside and eat oily pakodas from off a piece of newspaper. That scrap of paper under my pakodas would always have the face of some entertainer or the other. Now I hope to see my own face peeping at me from under the pakodas. I know Gutthi has got me a lot of attention. And I am not ready to give her up. But at the same time there’s a lot more to me”
