Adaa Khan is currently seen onscreen playing the character of Amrit in Rajan Shahi's Amrit Manthan on Life OK. She is playing a strong headed princess in the show, who can go up to any level to save her family’s grace. But before going on air in February this year, the show was delayed. “After shooting the pilot, we waited for nearly six to seven months for the show to go on air. And now I believe in the saying, the wait was worth it,” says the actress to Tellychakkar.com. Incidentally, Adaa had auditioned for another show from the same production house, Havan that aired on Colors. Her character in this show comes across as negative. Unlike many of her contemporaries, Adaa doesn't shy away from grey characters. Adaa says, "Every human has a shade of grey in him or her as nobody is perfect. The character Amrit that I am playing is very different and challenging. She is practical, she thinks from her head. It’s really a tough role for me as I am not like Amrit at all. So I continuously take care that I maintain the balance. But I am happy Rajanji chose me for the role." Adaa is doing whatever it takes to make her character look real: "I have to ride horses in the show and I have not taken any training in horse riding. I still remember shooting my introduction scene where I had to jump from a horse. Prior to shooting the scene, I spent almost an hour with the horse. I interacted with him and fed and pampered him before riding on him (Laughs). Luckily everything went smoothly and everyone was happy with the shot." And though she is trying to meet the demands of this character, Adaa is happy to be working with the cast. Incidentally, she calls them her extended family. "I am very fortunate to be working with experience actors like Amardeep Jha, Nandita Puri and Naveen Saini. They always help me when I am going wrong," she reveals. Off screen, Adaa speaks Mumbaiya Hindi and hence every now and tends to get back to her real self while shooting. “They immediately correct me when I speak wrong Hindi.” Here’s hoping that your show earns you laurels in the future.
