Many actors in comedy shows complain that executing comic sequences demands high levels of energy. Maintaining a high amount of energy is at times a challenge for them. Shubhangi Atre Poorey who does the role of Koyal Ghotak Narayan (a cuckoo) in SAB TV’s Chidiya Ghar (Garima Productions) avers that doing a comedy isn’t the least bit exhausting for her. She explains, “Doing a family drama with emotionally charged crying scenes are mentally depleting in comparison. On the contrary, I enjoy all the scenes in Chidiya Ghar.”
The actress modestly says, “I am learning the ropes of executing comedy well, especially about coming timing. I am privileged to work with such good actors from whom I can learn a lot."
Shilpa Shinde was earlier essaying the role of Koyal. When Shubhangi replaced her, the cast and crew were very forthcoming in helping her get into the skin of the character. Paresh Ganatra who plays her onscreen husband Ghotak Kesari Narayan (a horse) was very cooperative. The actress says, “He explained to me in detail how the chemistry and relationship between husband-wife duo Ghotak and Koyal was.”
Besides being soft spoken like her reel character Koyal; the actress loves to sing and listen to music like her. Koyal as her name signifies is like a cuckoo. The actress loves the bird in real life, especially the lovely tune it sings on summer days.
The actress who has done a couple of shows on Indian television has enjoyed doing all the roles. Her favourite character is however that of Kasturi in the soap Kasturi as it gave her immense fame and recognition. She shares, “Wherever I go, people still remember me by that role.”
