Will this one at least kick off Sahara?

Long delayed, 'Kamini Damini' has finally seen the light of day on Sahara One. The eternal Dream Girl, Hema Malini who else, plays the dual roles. Speaking at J W Marriot Hotel in Mumbai, Malini informed, “The characters are somewhat similar to Seeta and Geeta in the sense that Kamini is softer and tradition-bound while Damini, who is not a gypsy girl like Geeta but someone who is very modern and practical in her outlook". Director Ravi Chopra who brought the actor back on the big screen with the hit Baghban directs her in Kamini Damini too. Malini continued, “When Ravi narrated me the story of Kamini Damini, I liked it immensely it would be fun to play twins now. I meediately said yes. You can say they are the elderly versions of Seeta and Geeta though when I played Geeta, I could afford to go a little over the top. Being a gypsy girl, she could do and get away with anything, pankhe par bhi latka diya tha (remember that scene: hanging atop a ceiling fan in a police station when Geeta’s step-aunt (the inimitable Manorama) tells her ‘Neeche aaja beti’, she cheekily replies: “Upar aaja moti!”?) but now of course we can’t do all that with Damini because she’s lived abroad and so she’s more modern and sophisticated.” Kamini Damini has gone on air from December 27, Mondays-Thursdays, 10 pm and stars Pankaj Dheer and Anang Desai among others. While Kamini will have her in traditional saris, Damini will be seen in designer power suits. “I have only shot for Kamini so far, but shooting the other woman too will be fun I guess,” Malini concluded.
