MUMBAI : Manoj Bajpayee starrer Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai premiered on Zee5 on 23rd May 2023. The film is getting a great response. The movie is based on a real-life incident where a godman was accused of sexually abusing a minor girl.
Apart from Manoj, the movie stars Adrija Sinha and Surya Mohan Kulshrestha in pivotal roles. Adrija plays the role of the victim and Surya Mohan plays the role of Baba.
Shivam Gupta did the casting for the movie, and recently TellyChakkar interacted with him to speak to him about how he casted Adrija Sinha and Surya Mohan Kulshrestha in the film.
Shivam stated, “When I got the film and read the script, I came to know what the film is about. So, it was important to cast the girl, Baba and every lawyer in resemblance to the characters, which was a pressure on me. For the female lead’s role, we took 40-50 auditions, and when we auditioned Adrija and showed it to Apoorv, he asked us to finalise her.
“The day I auditioned Adrija, I knew that she is our female lead. For the role of Baba, we got an actor from Lucknow. We convinced him to do the role. So, although it was difficult, I am really thankful to Apoorv for making everything go smoothly,” he added.
When movies based on real-life are made, it gets involved in controversies. So, we asked Shivam if Surya Mohan Kulshrestha was hesitant before taking up the role. To which he said, “Earlier, when we approached him, we had not told him what the film is about. But, when we did his look test, he understood what exactly the film is. He was actually very excited and happy that we thought about him for this role.”
“The day the look test happened, we all were shocked. We had no words as he looked exactly like what we wanted. Surya Mohan ji has also done a great work. We wanted an actor who can act with his eyes as he doesn’t have many dialogues,” Shivam added.
