Anil Kapoor teams up with Rajkumar Santoshi for a film based on partition of India

After a period of twelve years since he had teamed up with Rajkumar Santoshi, Anil Kapoor will again work with the Andaz Apna Apna director in a film based on 1947 partition of India. The film is reportedly an adaptation of the play Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhya Woh Jamiya Hi Nahin. Said Santoshi in a statement, "I am doing a film based on 1947 partition. It is a very dramatic film. I am working on it. It is too early to talk about the actors that I have on my wish list for this film except Anil Kapoor who is playing a powerful character in it." The director, however, did not talk about Kapoor's character. "The film will have a universal message – promoting harmony in times of intolerance," he added. Kapoor had earlier worked with Santoshi in Pukar (2000) and Lajja (2001). Currently, Santoshi is eagerly waiting for the release of his Shahid Kapoor-starrer Phata Poster Nikhla Hero that is scheduled to hit the theatres on 20 September (2013).
