Li'l champs are striking the right chord

Contestants on Zee TV’s show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs have managed to impress the judges and viewers in a short span of time. There were two such instances recently. Firstly, there was a duet performance by Sargam and Emil from Adnan ke Anokhe, who sang the song “Arziyaan” from the critically acclaimed movie Delhi 6. The song was originally sung by Kailash Kher and Javed Ali, who are two of the three judges on the show. They started by dedicating the song to judges and then when the performance was over the judges were so moved that Kailash couldn’t speak anything, whereas Javed Said, “Sargam, had I listened to you earlier I would have definitely copied your style. You were phenomenal in certain parts of the song and it is difficult for trained singers like us to do what you did with such élan and ease.” Secondly, Azmat Hussain, who sang the famous ghazal “Khuda Kare”, got everyone mesmerized by his performance to such an extent that Kailash commented, “Aap pichle janam ke kisi sangeet ke fankaar ke avatar hain… at this age if you sing so well, then after a few years there will be a gharana bearing your name.” It seems that the little champs are growing up!
