The Bong connection in Choti Bahu

On the sets of Zee Tv’s popular show Choti Bahu during the breaks you will find a group of actors sitting apart and singing and talking in Bengali. One might think they were gossiping about their co-stars but that is not the case. Actors Saurav Chakrabarti (Rohan), Siddharth (Chenu), Sushmita Daan (Padma) and the creative head of the show are all Bengali speaking actors and they are trying to reconnect with their roots. As soon as they get a break they start discussing Rabindra Sangeet and the works of Tagore, Saratchandra Chattopadhyay or Satyajit Ray over chai and Chanachoor (namkeen) reciting poems. A source tells us, “Yes, they all get together and sing songs and discuss Bengali literary work and music. Recently Saurav Chakrabarti who plays Rohan on the show had been to Kolkata and even bought Bengali delicacies like rosogollas, pantusa and kashondi which everyone shared on the set.” Saurav Chakrabarti confirmed the same, “I like to sing and even carry my guitar on the sets many a times. So during our breaks we recite poems, sing Bengali songs and try to have fun on the sets. It’s not just the Bengalis but everyone from the team sits together and eats together and enjoys with us.” We like this camaraderie…better than the back biting and bitching one has seen on many sets!
