Arpita Chakraborty
The versatile singer, Arpita Chakraborty is on a roll after tasting success with Ragini MMS 2 and following up with a peppy Marathi number. Now she has two potential Telugu blockbusters up her sleeve! Yes, Arpita Chakraborty has recorded two numbers for the Telugu remake of Aashiqui 2 with Arijit Singh and KK respectively. The two numbers she have lent her voice to are Kyuki Tum Hi Ho (in Telugu, Music- Mithoon) and Piya Aaye Na (Music- Jeet Ganguly) in the movie titled Nee Jataga Nenundali. Incidentally, she scored over Shreya Ghoshal and Palak Mishra to grab this offer, as her Telugu accent was found to be better, coupled with a strong vocal for which she is well-known for!! For the uninitiated, her recent Ladi Ghodhi number in Marathi (Hu Tu Tu, Music Anand Raj Anand) proved to be quite popular after the film’s release on 4 June, 2014. Nowadays Arpita is busy with the first ever Indo-French Thumri Album Musical Banjaras by Ashish Ali. Arpita's musical journey began at the age of 6, when she started training under her mother, who remains her greatest inspiration. She performed live for the first time at the tender age of 7, and there has been no looking back since then. A NID graduate from Ahmedabad, after dabbling as the dubbing artist (Cartoon Network) her music career began with Satyagraha (Raske Bhare Tore Naina) while her last number in Hindi was Lori of death in Ragini MMS. In between she released an album Shamiana in conjunction with Kingfisher, which was well received. Winner of several awards in local and national level competitions, Arpita has performed across India and beyond. She takes pride in the diversity of Indian music. In fact, she can sing in more than 16 languages! Way to go, Arpita!!
