Her name is Rakhi but given her glamorous avatar not many guys would be willing to make her their sister. On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, Rakhi Sawant in a quick tete-a-tete tells us what Raksha Bandhan means to her.
How are you planning to celebrate Raksha Bandhan?
I am myself a rakhi. Is that not enough? I am present on the wrist of every guy in India. I am every man's sister and hence my name is Rakhi.
But given your glamorous avatar, do men readily agree to be your brother?
See, I am not interested in making any brothers here. If anyone wants to make me their sister, they are more than welcome.
But do you have any special memories attached to Raksha Bandhan?
No. To be honest, I don't understand this festival called Raksha Bandhan. And I think it's become a fashion these days to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.
Why?
It has become a fashion to get rakhis tied on this day from your sister and then conveniently forget your duties the next day. A brother should be the one who promises to protect you from all sorts of harm each and every single day of the year. You don't get brothers like that today. A man will become a bhai on Raksha Bandhan and the next day he will turn into a gaai (cow) and bhais (buffalo). The one who can't protect his sister doesn't deserve to be a brother. Brothers should be there to protect their sisters till their last breath.
Do you consider anyone at all your brother?
Salman Khan is my bhai. It's better to make him a bhai. Warna uska maar kaun khaayega. (Who would want to get beaten by him).
