Reality TV stars in particularly singers are taking to politics. After Abhijeet Sawant (Indian Idol fame), it’s the turn of Saregamapa Challenge 2009 winner Vaishali Made to join politics. The Maharashtrian girl has joined Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtrian Navnirman Sena. Made, who hails from Nagpur, has settled in Mumbai for the last five years. Confirming the news, Made says, “I have formally joined MNS yesterday. As of now, I’m just a member and thus far there is no clarity on whether I’ll be contesting in the upcoming state Assembly polls. I’ll be meeting Raj Thackeray in a few days and it’s then that I’ll come to know of my role. I’m open to both contesting polls and even campaigning.” It must be recalled that during Saregamapa Challenge 2009, MNS leaders had backed Made to the hilt and appealed to the public to vote in favour of the Maharashtrian candidate. As it turned out, Made scored a comprehensive win. So, is the reality TV star now returning the favour? “No, it’s not about returning any favour. It was my decision to join the party. They were more than willing to accept me. I believe in the ‘Marathi manoos’ ideology and that’s the reason I joined MNS. Maharashtrians should have the first right to any services in the state. I’d like to do something for our people and that is why I have joined politics,’ Made chided. Well, all we can say is that the battle has now moved on from one stage to another. Though one thing remains constant i.e. our reality TV stars will continue to beg for public votes. Luckily, the public doesn’t have to send any SMS. Among the other celebs, Abhijeet Sawant has joined Shiv Sena, actress Kunickaa Lal, Nagma are eyeing Congress tickets.
