Sunny Deol – When Sunny roars, scared and scarred enemies drop their weapons and take flight. Sunny has delivered a string of patriotic flavoured movies. His speciality lies in bashing inimical elements of Pakistan black and blue. Nana Patekar – One of the rare actors in the industry to have received an honorary Captain’s rank from the Indian army, Nana Patekar has worn military fatigues for Prahaar and Kohram . Krantiveer and Tirangaa are his other patriotic movies. Raaj Kumar – Raaj Kumar’s iconic role as Brigadier Suryadev Singh in Tirangaa was enough to put him on the patriotic map for the rest of his life. Aamir Khan – Aamir Khan has a string of patriotic movies to his credit. Lagaan, Mangal Pandey and Rang De Basanti gave Aamir the much needed impetus as a patriotic actor. Shah Rukh Khan – While 90s were reserved for villainous roles, the new century saw King Khan essaying patriotic roles with great elan. Veer-Zaara, Jab Tak Hain Jaan, Swades, Chak De India stamped him as Bollywood new patriotic actor. Hrithik Roshan – Though Hrithik excels in superhero roles, he made a rare departure and adeptly played an army officer in Farhan Akhtar directed Lakshya. The movie was a box-officer disaster but Hrithik’s performance drew rave reviews. Arvind Swamy – Arvind Swamy’s stellar acting in Roja as a government employee kidnapped by Muslim extremists catapulted him to instant fame and success. Ajay Devgn – Had it not been for Ajay Devgn’s riveting performance, the Legend of Bhagat Singh would have lost its sheen at the box-office. Balraj Sahni – Haqeeqat had Balraj Sahni playing an army officer in a movie that revolved around the Sinio-Indian war of 1961. Later in Garam Hawa, Balraj Sahni put in a poignant performance displaying the angst of a Muslim man who refuses to go to Pakistan during partition.
