The ghost of Mona Singh’s Sita-act in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena simply refuses to die down. A year later, Singh still finds herself being served with summons. This time it was served to her when she was at a product promotion event in Chandigarh on Wednesday. An irked Mona left the city the same evening.
Mona Singh was in the Union Territory on Wednesday to participate in a road show of a toothpaste company outside MCM DAV College in Sector 36. Alerted by Mona’s visit to the city, activists of Global Human Rights Council (GHRC), armed with their lawyers, decided to deliver her the summons directly. The GHRC activists were allegedly arguing with the organisers of the event over the matter.
GHRC chairperson Arvind Thakur reportedly said, “Nobody was receiving court summons at her Mumbai address. Therefore, when we got the information that she was in Chandigarh we got fresh summons issued from the court and tried to deliver it to her. We were accompanied by court officials but she again refused to accept it.”
“I am not here to receive any summons. You have to send it at my Mumbai address," said Mona Singh and immediately left the city.
GHRC and Vishwa Hindu Parsihad (VHP) had filed a complaint against Mona Singh for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus with her Ravan-Sita act in the Colors show. Their prime objection was how could Mona dress as Sita and dance with demon king Ravan? Mona’s partner Harbhajan Singh too was slapped with such notices from Sikh and Hindu organizations. The duo had won the contest.
