5 THINGS we LIKED about Pukaar- Call for the Hero

Pukaar- Call for the Hero

Producer-Director Vipul Shah screened episode one of his small screen magnum opus, Pukaar-Call for the Hero for the media in a special screening organised yesterday. Starring Rannvijay Singh and Raj Babbar in lead roles, Pukaar traces the story of an army officer and his trials and tribulations. The first episode did make for an exciting watch and for the benefit of our readers we list down five things about Pukaar that will certainly cut the ice with audience.

Dashing Rannvijay as an Armyman

Finally, Rannvijay looks to have made a transition from the omnipresent Roadies image that has stuck to him like plague all these years. With six generations of his family having served in the army and his father currently serving in Syria, no other actor could have had a better understanding of the Indian army. Sporting a moustache and real scars (suffered while shooting) adorning his face, Rannvijay makes for every bit the handsome and brave officer that the Indian army is known to produce. Fodder enough for women folks to already reserve their seats before the television.

Return of Raj Babbar

This veteran actor never fails to impress. Raj Babbar and his imposing presence as Rannvijay's father will hold your gaze. The actor seamlessly displays the right emotions as the proud father of army man. The ease with which Raj delivers his dialogues especially in tragedy stricken sequences makes for a striking watch. Suffice to say, after Amitabh Bachchan, Raj Babbar has the most captivating screen presence on television. It's a shame that an actor of his caliber is hardly seen in action these days.

High octane action sequences

When was the last time you saw some real acrobatic stunts in a television series. Pukaar promises you just that. From high speed kicks to real bomb explosions, the small screen will literally come alive in a never before seen manner.

The story of an Armyman

Think military on small screen and it's SRK's Fauji that still comes gushing to mind. No other serial has ever been able to make an impression after Fauji. With the audience today tired of the drab saas-bahu sagas, the story of an armyman could exactly be the perfect anti-dote that Indian television audience need.

Vipul Shah -Deven Bhojani combo

Vipul Shah has had a great run on television and Deven Bhojani has proved to be a lucky mascot of sorts for him right from Ek Mahal Sapno Ki which aired over 1000 episodes. Deven, on his part, has a proven track record as a small screen director and has shown his mettle with a show like Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai that won him a plethora of awards. Both Vipul and Deven could well extend their Midas touch with Pukaar as well.
