I want to be known as the youngest creative director: Nitin Dhall

Nitin Dhall

Nitin Dhall, the creative director of Channel V’s PS I Hate You, is one of the youngest creatives in the television industry. Starting early in life has helped him reach here. Dhall, now 21, gives this credit to his father and first cousin actor Aniruddh Dave.

In conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Dhall talks about his journey so far and the goals he wants to achieve in the future. Excerpts:

When and how did you start your journey in the entertainment industry?

I entered the industry with a diploma degree in Direction & Production at the age of 17. The people who have been my guides in this journey are my father and brother Aniruddh. My father always wanted me to be a part of this industry, while my brother supported and guided me in every way he could.

Do you ever regret having started working so early in life?

Twenty four hours a day are really less for me. I need a lot more time as there is so much for me to do. I have completed my bachelor’s degree in Mass Media and at the moment, I am doing my Masters in the same field. Getting back to your question, I do not regret anything. I am doing extremely well on educational as well as professional front.

Tell us a bit about the shows that you’ve been associated with?

I started as an associate creative head (ACH) on Sanjog Se Bani Sangini and went onto be a part of shows like Hongey Judaa Na Hum, Main Na Bhoolungi, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Ek HasinaThi, Saraswatichandra, Pritam Pyaare Aur Woh, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Sasural Simar Ka and Jhalli Anjali Ke Tootey Dil Ki Amazing Story. I’ve also worked on a movie titled Music Meri Jaan. It will be releasing soon.

Are you enjoying shooting in Delhi for PS I Hate You?

I am missing Mumbai but at the same time I am extremely close to my home here. My parents stay in Delhi. I am also getting the feel of the chilly winter that I miss in Mumbai. So, it’s all good.

You’ve also turned a professor.

Yes, I have been a guest lecturer in IP University, Delhi University, Sharda University, Punjab Technical University and Jamia Milia Islamia University. They cannot hire me as a faculty because I am just 21 (smiles).

Are you eyeing more films next?

I have directed19 short films so far and have won five awards for the same. So, I am moving in that direction too.

What’s next?

I want to be awarded as the youngest creative director in the industry.
