Sonam Kapoor has found a new hero for herself and it happens to be none other than the legendary Meryl Streep. Meryl's impeccable conduct at the Oscars and her effusive praise for all winners despite not winning an Oscar herself deeply moved Sonam.
Meryl who was nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress for Into The Woods for a record 19th time ended up losing the award to Patricia Arquette. However, the veteran actress was all praise for Patricia and even gave her a standing ovation at the end of her acceptance speech, an action that moved Sonam to tears.
Praising Meryl, Sonam said , "Meryl Streep is my hero. She was beaming and clapping for every winner with such humility. I like the unity that happens in Hollywood. I hope it would happen in Bollywood too someday."
For Sonam, Meryl signifies the perfect actress who has happily married her professional life to her personal one. "She is the perfect woman. A brilliant actress who also has a very successful marriage which is unheard of both in Hollywood and Bollywood. She is also a great mother. I think from today Meryl Streep is my hero. I am also inspired by Judi Dench, Kate Blanchett."
Talking about awards and their importance, Sonam said, "I consider awards as very important. It is a validation of your good and hard work. Awards are for achievers and just to be around people who are achievers is a great thing. We all work for recognition."
