His good looks got him shows like Sarhadein, Alpviram and Time Bomb in the past but he chose to do off beat roles even if it meant waiting for a good nine months for quality work to come his way. Amir Bashir is all set to shoot for his third feature film titled Mr Singh and Mrs Mehta by Mediant Corporations and directed by Prabesh Bharadwaj. The actor is playing a struggling painter in the film and will be soon traveling to London for the shoot.

"I took up this show because it's an interesting role with a different treatment and I get to play the lead. Thankfully it's not a typical Bollywood film and I signed the project in June and I am preparing for the role by observing painters," says Amir who is taking painting classes from graduates of Xavier's college. And this is not all the actor has enjoyed the classes (for ten days) so much that he ended up making a self portrait.
Amir has also joined Naseeruddin Shah's acting workshop which according to the actor has been a dream come true. "One of the reasons why I came to Mumbai was to get to meet Naseer Sir and simply by observing him one gets to learn so much. He is so generous and his commitment towards his students is 100 percent. It's been a higher education of sorts for me," smiles Amir who is readying to stage a play with him.

The suave actor from Kashmir has tried his hand at films like Armaan and ready to release Great Indian Butterfly opposite Sandhya Mridul (film by Sarthak Dasgupta) which is a story about a married couple, their high stressed life for chasing materialistic dreams and the problems in their marriage. Not many know that the actor has also penned a script which he plans to direct next year and is based on the problems faced by teenagers in Kashmir.
