Looks like Sony doesn't want to give up on the new found success. After the huge hit of Indian Idol, Sony couldn't resist coming up with yet another one. But this time it will be twice the "mazaah". Instead of one Indian Idol, this is a reality show that sets out to find a fame jodi. And it is called Fame Gurukul.
Commenting on the launch, Kunal Dasgupta, CEO, SET India Pvt, Ltd, said, "SET has always delivered its promise of providing viewers with path breaking content."

The Indian version produced by Optimystix Entertainment Indian Pvt. Ltd. and Miditech Pvt. Ltd. is formatted to audition candidates across the country to select the 14 best candidates who have the potential to become India's voice.
Life for these candidates will then revolve around the Gurukul. These 14 candidates will spend time at Gurukul in recluse honing their talent day and night under the principalship of Ila Arun. Says Ila, "I am very excited to return to the small screen after Tamas." Well, the recluse sounds pretty much like Lakme Fashion House!
Singers Prashant Samadhar who sang the title song of Fiza and Padma Wadkar form the faculty. Psychiatrist Anjali Chhabria and trainer cum dietician Mickey Mehta will counsel and monitor the candidates.
The sexy Mandira Bedi and the ever smiling Manav Gohil will present all the action to you. Manav admits, "I will be taking tips from Shweta (Kwatraa) on hosting shows."
Veterans in the league are lyricist, poet and screen play writer Javed Akhtar, singer Kay Kay and singer cum composer Shankar Mahadevan who comprise the jury.
Well even though there are similarities between Indian Idol and Fame Gurukul like voting the best contestant through SMS, there are some technical differences. While Indian Idol gave one idol already trained to be a singer, Fame Gurukul will train two contestants and make them singers. Hey, but nothing less in the contract! The winner pair, fame jodi will sign a contract with Sony for a crore and have an album cut with Sony BMG.
The show sure looks promising and is set to prove it's tag line, iske liye kuch bhi karega (one could do anything for this)!
