Young filmmaker Ritika Bajaj Vijra might not be ‘many films’ old, but the young talent has already earned accolades and prestigious prizes for her film Ab Rab Havale.

Produced by her home production Creative Canvas entertainment, the film beautifully narrates the story of a family at the backdrop of India-Pakistan partition. The period drama has impressed the critics so much that it has won three Dadasaheb Phalke awards, one international award and has also been screened at the Cannes Film Festival in the short film category.

We recently got into a candid conversation with the director, who has worked as a writer and creative head on television, “While growing up, my grandfather always used to narrate the tragic stories of partition. I was very overwhelmed with those stories and I wanted the world to know that more than mass migration, it was a separation of hearts,” she said.

The film stars veteran actress Farida Jalal in the lead role, along with Anup Soni, Shilpa Saklani, Inamulhaq and Pooja Joshi in prominent roles. Speaking about the same, Ritika commented, “Farida ji is an excellent actress and she is definitely excited about winning the Best Actress award. And not only her, I believe that everyone in the cast and crew has done their best.”

Before signing off, the director also mentioned that after few more short films, she will definitely try her hands on full length feature films. Wow!

We wish Ritika all the best and hope that she wins many more awards!
